Station Equipment
The weather station in use is the La Crosse WS2300 which has been wired direct and measures the amount of rain, outside air temperature, humidity and barometric pressure at sea level. There is an AAG anemometer from Hobby Boards to measure wind speed and direction and a 1-Wire Lightning detector connected to the computer that registers any 'Cloud to Ground' (CG) lightning strikes within about a 20 mile radius.
The weather data is uploaded using a program called Weather Display which puts all of the data together, creates the graphs, tables and reports then uploads the data to the site. The program was written & designed by New Zealander Brian Hamilton, who continues to update and add new features all the time. Added to Weather Display is Weather Display Live which is the program used for the Live Weather on this site. It is also enhanced by the MesoMap Live which takes data from weather stations all over the world and allows their data to be displayed on a map that the site owner creates.
